In many places in Germany it is cold, dark and uncomfortable. Now many people have the wish for a time-out. Feel the first spring feelings, get some sun and let the mild wind caress you. That would be it now.

So let’s go to Lanzarote, a Canary Island with many special features. Here prevail also in January and February on sunny days up to 22 degrees.

With the plane quickly to Lanzarote
Lanzarote is the most northeastern island of the Canary Islands, administered by Spain. The flight time there is only about four and a half hours and you can fly from Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich to Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote. Various airlines fly to this sunny destination, such as the holiday planes of Condor, Tuifly, SunExpress or Germania.

The volcanic island fascinates with its variety of landscapes and colours. There are black and white sandy beaches and around 100 volcanic cones. In the national park Timanfaya you can marvel at big crater holes and bizarre rock formations. At the well-known parrot beaches, which are under nature protection, there are dreamlike bays for bathing – however, one should rather enjoy a beach walk with the water temperatures in February.

Lanzarote also has something to offer in culinary terms. The inhabitants of the island cultivate an excellent wine in the lava landscape and in the restaurants you are spoiled with typical regional fish dishes, stews and the famous boiled potatoes – the Papas arrugadas – with mojo sauce.

Athletes also get their money’s worth. Whether hiking, mountain biking, surfing, diving or golfing, the sports possibilities on the island are manifold. And culturally, Lanzarote has been shaped in many ways and places by the famous architect and painter César Manrique.
