Bad weather and everything breaks down…
When it is storming and snowing outside, air traffic is often disrupted, delayed, or canceled. This can be irritating, no matter whether you are on your way to your vacation or to an important appointment.
However, in such cases, you are usually not entitled to compensation of 250€ – 600 € from the airline. Even with the best will in the world, the airline cannot change this. Safety first!
This is also the wording of the EU regulation that regulates your rights as a passenger. If there are “exceptional circumstances” – including strikes, terrorist threats, and bad weather – the airline is exempt from compensation.
In most cases, however, it is worth checking whether this applies to your specific case. Not every rain drop can be used as an excuse for “bad weather”.
